Reflections Studio is a small, family owned and operated, photography studio that specializes in school, dance, and sports portraits. Reflections was started by Edward Gates in 1976, and was run by him for over 45 years. Our first studio location was in Scotch Plains, NJ on Mountain Ave. Edward began the studio as a family portrait and wedding photography business, before eventually transitioning to school photography as the main focus of the studio. Edward is now retired from Reflections.
Reflections Studio LLC is now owned and operated by Jeff Gates (Edward's son) and Francesca Parayno.
Jeff began working at Reflections part-time in 2012 as a photo editor while he was still studying photography at Raritan Valley Community Collage. He began working full-time and running most day to day studio operations in 2015. Today, Jeff is Reflections Studio's only photographer and he takes close to 10,000 portraits each year, mostly of school children.
Francesca began work at Reflections in 2016 as the picture day assistant, and now handles most of the management tasks of the business. She also assists Jeff at each school, making sure every student looks their best on picture day.
Jeff and Francesca are the only full-time employees of Reflections. If you reach out to Reflections, either Jeff or Francesca will respond.
Reflections still focuses on school portrait photography, and is open only during the school year (September-June). The studio is closed during the summer months, as well as the first 2-3 weeks in January. Our physical studio location, at 1812 Front St, is open by appointment only, as virtually all of our work is done on-location at our various school. Our studio location is primarily used for school retake/makeup appointments.
